Throughout South Africa, from Cape Town to Thohoyandou, from Upington to East London, that is where you will find SANParks Honorary Rangers!
The SANParks Honorary Rangers are based in 31 regions, spread throughout the country. Our goal is to have a region for each one of our National Parks. Except for the Richtersveld and Namaqua National Parks, we have succeeded in this goal so far. Some of our regions are not dedicated to a single park, but work in several of our parks. Especially those regions in areas with a large population density such as Gauteng , which has 6 regions.
Each region is managed by a Regional Management Committee, which is elected on an annual basis. The regions launch projects in support of SANParks. Some projects may be very hands-on, such as erecting bird hides and doing fence patrols, and others are projects such as fundraisers or educational outreaches to schools and in shopping centres.
