MEETINGS:
We usually meet on the second Saturday of each month at 08:55am, but this may change on occasion. It's best to check with the Secretary to verify the meeting date. Meetings are held at the Herberg, the West Coast National Park Headquarters in Langebaan.
Shepherd's Hut on Seeberg Lookout
West Coast National Park Cultural Heritage Project
Cultural Heritage is an important factor in the SANParks mission. The West Coast National Park intends to begin Phase One of its Cultural Heritage Project by using the Shepherd Hut on Seeberg Lookout to educate visitors in the history of the area. This Project's objective is to provide historical information available to all visitors during visiting hours. Using the Shepherd Hut adds a sense of history while providing a weatherproof environment to display information posters and possibly even artifacts if security will allow for their safety. Some renovation is needed to provide adequate natural lighting and ensure a weather-proof environment for the posters and artifacts. - SASOL Stretton's Wader Bash:
A favorite birding event which takes place every summer at this incredible RAMSAR site. The 2013 Wader Bash is scheduled for 8-10 February 2013. If you'd like to register for next year, contact Noeline van den Berg at

- Benguela Weskus Marathon
The 2012 Benguela Weskus Marathon took place on 17 March 2012 and was a great success. The event is organized by the SANParks Honorary Rangers West Coast Region in association with the Langebaan Strandlopers who have worked hard to make this a top notch event. HR Shop:
Flower season is here on the West Coast. It's an exceptionally beautiful time to visit the West Coast National Park. Additionally, Postberg, a contractual park associated with the WCNP, is open to the public from 1 August through 30 September. During this time, we operate a shop at Tsaarsbank on weekends and holidays (weather permitting) selling books and refreshments to raise money to support the Park. Remember to bring cash, as we have many wonderful things for sale but we do not have card facilities due to our lack of cell phone reception at the site.-
Langebaan Lagoon Cycle Challenge:
The Pedal Power Association voted the Langebaan Lagoon Cycle Challenge the Highest Scoring Funride for the third year in a row. The 2012 Challenge had over 1000 participants and fun was had by all! The 2013 Langebaan Lagoon Cycle Challenge has not been scheduled yet, but keep your eyes open to participate in this event. This event consists of an 80km race and a 30km race.
