Climbing Table Mountain 64 Times in 64 Days
This week, SANParks Honorary Rangers of the Table Mountain region had the privilege of joining Tania Morkel on her 59th climb of Table Mountain โ part of her inspiring challenge to summit the mountain 64 times in 64 days.
Why is she doing it? In 2023, Tania suffered a life-threatening 18-meter fall in Table Mountain National Park (TMNP). She was rescued by Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) and spent 23 days in ICU, recovering from multiple serious injuries, including spinal fractures, a brain haemorrhage, and internal organ damage.
Now, as a tribute to the team that saved her โ and to help improve trail safety in TMNP โ Tania is raising funds for WSAR and TMNP for trail infrastructure improvements, including signage and footpath upgrades.
๐ The SANParks Honorary Rangers of the Table Mountain Region are proud to stand alongside individuals like Tania who are making a real difference in our protected areas. Her goal is to raise R100,000, and sheโs already reached R82,000 on GivenGain.
