Family Arbor Day Celebration - Skukuza Indigenous Nursery

Join us at Skukuza Indigenous Nursery for an exciting weekend filled with fun, nature, and family activities! Whether you’re a nature lover or just looking for a fun day out with your family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join us for a fun-filled day of birding, botanising and family activities.

Children’s Activities


• BeeWise Trail: Let your little ones embark on a fun-filled adventure to explore, discover hidden treasures, and learn about the importance of conservation in an engaging way.
• Litter Education with Mascot: Interactive sessions teaching kids about the importance of keeping our environment clean.

Schedule: Saturday, 10:00-11:00 at Skukuza Nursery, 15:00-15:00 at Skukuza Shop

Sunday, 10:00-11:00 at Skukuza Nursery


• Treasure Hunt: An exciting search for hidden treasures along our BeeWise Trail, specially designed for children.
• Jungle Gym: Play area for kids to enjoy and have fun.
• Educational Talks: Hourly Specialist Talks: 20minute talks by specialists on various topics related to conservation promising to engage children of all ages. 

Schedule: Saturday, 09:00-10:00 – “Let’s Take a Leap!!” – 11:00-12:00 – “Four Winged Wonders” – 14:00-15:00  “Four Winged Wonders” Part 2
15:00-16:00 – “Let’s take a leap!!” Part 2

Food and Refreshments
• Bos Brew Café & Food: Indulge in delicious food at our café.
• Roosterkoeke: Chicken or Mince: R40, Chicken or Mince + Cheese: R50, Cheese & Jam for kids: R25, Cooldrinks, Shlush Puppies, Slo-Jo’s, Coffee, Cake Stall – Variety of cakes and other treats
Tree and Bird ID walks

• Bird & Tree Identification Walks: Guided walks through the nursery to identify different bird and tree species.
• Schedule: Saturday, 08:00-10.00; 10:00-12:00; 14:30-16:30   Sunday, 08:00-10:00
• Book with Sharon at 0823365064. Cost: R100 per person, including muffin and coffee/tea. Limited space available.

Medicinal Plant Drives

• Morning & Afternoon Medicinal Plant Drives: Learn about the medicinal properties of native flora with David Lovell on an open safari vehicle.
• Schedule Sunday: 08:00-11:00 & 12:30-15:30
• Book with Susan at 0829527109. Cost: R600 per person. Limited space available.

Art and Entertainment


• Fauna and Flora Art Exhibition: Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature-inspired art.
• Live Music: Enjoy live music performances by JAXX.

Bonsai Enthusiast

Bonsai Kau Talks and Demonstrations: Learn the ancient art of Bonsai and purchase your own Bonsai at the nursery. At the bottom parking area of the Nursery. 

Schedule: Saturday, 10:00-12:00, 14:00-16:00 – Sunday, 10:00-12:00

Educational Display

• The SANParks Honorary Rangers will educate and raise awareness about the environment and the importance of conservation. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and create lasting memories with your family.
