Integrated Report 2024

A Labour of Love for Meerkat National Park Families living on 39 farms carved out a life over many generations in this unforgiving Karoo landscape before their land had to make way for the establishment of SKA. Beth and Willie Engelbrecht, long-time members of the SHR, felt compelled to hear and record the stories of these families before their histories and stories were lost forever. Two years of hard work birthed the book The Lost Tales of the Meerkat National Park: Karoo Farmlands and their Stories. Beth and Willie spent hundreds of hours interviewing individuals and researching archives to document the history of the farms which were sold to the National Research The Meerkat National Park (MNP) was proclaimed in March 2020.
