Popular with visitors, the walkway provides important information on the crucial ecological value of wetlands. Renovation of the wetland boardwalk, Skukuza Nursery, Kruger National Park Over the years, the boardwalk deck and railings had deteriorated, becoming unsafe, and the interpretive panels needed replacing. Encroaching bushes made the boardwalk inaccessible, and it was closed three years ago. Many visitors expressed disappointment that the boardwalk had been closed. The refurbishment of the boardwalk was a project adopted by the members of the Lowveld Region. After extensive consultation, the construction contract was awarded to an independent contractor.
