Integrated Report 2024

Inaugural Golf Day for Johannesburg South The Johannesburg South Region’s first-ever fundraising Golf Day was a great success, netting a profit of over R70 000, with many promises of sponsorships and continued support. Funds will be allocated to the K9 wish list through K9 Project Watchdog. KPMI INC, Alexander Forbes, AutoZone, Magic Company, FleetAfrica, The Glen Volkswagen, and Bash Electrical Contractors are thanked for their sponsorships. The auction to secure a two-night stay at Rhino Walking Safaris was keenly contested. Members from this region also conduct regular maintenance of the prayer facilities in Kruger National Park, this is at no cost to the region’s funds. Despite a more challenging economic climate, they hosted 108 golfers, obtained a main sponsor and several other sponsors for specific holes. All prizes were donated, and their raffle, auction, and sale of mulligans enjoyed enthusiastic support. The region was privileged to have Mark Boucher’s ‘The Boucher Legacy’ participate on the day. The Boucher Legacy works to protect rhinos and other threatened mammals. We also hosted Pat Symcox, the former Protea’s cricketer, as a golfer. The event raised more than R70 000,00. The funds will be used for various conservation projects within the Kruger National Park. Contact John Gale johngalehr@gmail.com Supporting the equestrian programme The Highveld, Magalies, East Rand, Bushveld and Pretoria regions are avid supporters of the horse unit in the Kruger National Park. The horses are used by SANParks for anti-poaching patrols. Members actively contribute their knowledge and experience to the care and upkeep of the horses, supporting their health and wellbeing. Their expertise encompasses equine nutrition, training, and husbandry practices, among others. The Magalies Region has leveraged sponsorships and partnerships to secure essential supplies, such as horse feed, saddles, stirrups and veterinary care, to ensure the programme operates optimally and to enhance the overall care provided to the horses.
