Members of the Lowveld Region undertook significant renovation and repair projects at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. The following projects were completed: • The entrance gate needed replacing and a new entrance gate was constructed and installed to provide secure access and to enhance safety at the camp. • The iconic wooden owls depicting gate opening and closing times, were upgraded. • Following flood damage in February 2023, perimeter fences were repaired. • A new roof was installed over the sightings board area. • Fifty new braai facilities were built for the camping site and chalets. This collaborative project has improved infrastructure and safety and made for a more enjoyable visitor experience. Contact Kevin Conway lowveldchairperson@sanparksvolunteers.org Lowveld Region: Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, Kruger National Park The new gate, built and installed by members of the Lowveld Region Addo Region: Pop-up Boerie Stall The SANParks Honorary Rangers, Addo Region held their first pop-up boerewors sale in December 2022 at Jack’s Picnic Site in Addo Elephant National Park as a fundraiser. The event was such a success, that four pop-up boerie stalls were held during 2023, over long weekends. The response from the public has been very positive and supportive. We are thankful for the support from Park Management and guests, as all funds raised have been allocated to much needed equipment from the annual wish list.
