• Engaging with management to identify areas for improvement in financial oversight and reporting • Engaging with management in ensuring that the administrative expenses of the organisation are properly funded • Assessing tax compliance • Recommending the reappointment of the external auditor • Engaging with the external auditor in the planning of the audit and the outcome thereof • Reviewing the annual financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2024 and recommend them to the Board for approval. Focus areas for the 2024/2025 financial year The ARC work plan is governed by its charter. The main focus areas for the next financial year are as follows: • Monitoring the implementation of enhancements to financial oversight and reporting processes • Evaluating the appropriateness of the risk management methodology and the risk register prepared by management. Members and attendance The ARC’s purpose is to assist the Board in governing the financial and risk management of the SANParks Honorary Rangers to ensure: • Financial statements reflect financial results and records accurately • Financial systems, including the system of internal controls, provide financial integrity • The integrity of integrated reporting is maintained • The expertise, resources and experience of the finance function is reviewed • Compliance with laws and regulations is monitored regularly • The assurance process is effective and independent • Risk management systems provide comprehensive, timely and relevant disclosure of risks, and effective risk management plans.
