Fundraising Performance Report During the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 the Conservation Services National Project raised just less than R3,3 million which was largely spent servicing SANParks wish list items. • We conducted seven Mokhohlolo Camps for executives, which raised close to R2 million. The camp is situated in the southern section of Kruger National Park. During these events, our guests are treated to a fully catered, comfortable but rustic, bush adventure. The day-to-day functions, operations, trials, tribulations, joys and successes of managers and rangers are shared. During this time, the immense ecological and socio-economic benefits of nature are portrayed, and the value of biodiversity, preserved landscapes and heritage appreciated. • The annual Sunset Serenade event in May was again enthusiastically supported, generating close to R400 000 in profit. Our guests enjoy three classical music concerts by accomplished musicians in idyllic settings out in nature. The guests are accommodated in Mopani Camp, where they enjoy sumptuous three-course dinners on the Mpilo Deck overlooking the Pioneer Dam. Mokhohlolo guests may experience a close-up view of an elephant darting exercise. The immobilised animal was needed for TB research. Introduction and context The main functions of the SHR Conservation Services National Project can be described as: • Raising funds from the public and corporations by presenting events in national parks such as the Mokhohlolo Bush Camps and the Sunset Serenade, as well as negotiating long-term sponsorship and donation agreements. • Identifying critical operational equipment and requirements for SANParks ranger support, anti-poaching, Air Wing, Veterinary Wildlife Services, and selected community conservation projects in conjunction with SANParks Park Management. • Procuring adopted wish list equipment from good value and reliable suppliers. • Storing and separating procured items in preparation for delivery to the individual national parks. • Managing the logistics of delivering tonnes of equipment to the various SANParks units. • Ensuring excellent financial control and reporting in the administration of these functions, in accordance with validated systems.
