An energetic group of K9 Project Watchdog supporters participated in a 10 km breakfast fun-run to raise funds for two SANParks K9 handlers who will be taking part in the Comrades Marathon in 2024. The funds went towards supplying them with the shoes, sports gear and nutritional supplements. Magalies Region hosted a successful golf day at Pretoria Country Club. Funds raised will be allocated to upgrading infrastructure at the K9 facilities in the KNP. We were deeply saddened by the loss of one of our K9 heroes, Bennie (2015-2023). Born in the Netherlands, Bennie was flown to South Africa to be part of the K9 anti-poaching team. After years of dedicated service, Bennie sadly succumbed to heart failure on 13 October 2023. He will be sorely missed, but lovingly remembered. Marakele National Park Upgraded facilities and new kennels in the Marakele National Park were made possible thanks to donations by the K9 Project and Vaal Triangle Region. Members will assist with the maintenance of kennels in the park, and the erection of new kennels.
