The Kruger National Park choir, Voices of the Wild, inspired the audience with moving and uplifting choral music. After lunch, the ladies enjoyed a DIY-craft session, producing colourful planters for their homes. At the end of the day, each lady received a gift donated by SHR, Magalies Region. Cattle Baron: Skukuza provided lunch and refreshments on the day. The Employee Wellness Programme assisted with transporting the ladies to and from the venue. Gcinaphi Matsebula (MAJOC) acted as Programme Director. We are grateful to SuperSport for sponsorships and donations. SANParks and Cattle Baron are also thanked for support and in-kind donations. “Embrace Families” was presented in Skukuza on Women’s Day, 9 August 2023 and attended by 102 ladies who are spouses, partners, mothers and/or sisters of field rangers. Ms Tinyiko Golele, Regional Ranger: Marula South, addressed the ladies on the purpose of the event, namely, to honour and motivate the women who support the field rangers. She also shared some of her experiences as a field ranger. The keynote address was delivered by Ms Cathy Dreyer, Head Ranger: Kruger National Park (KNP). She emphasised the value and strength of ladies and the importance of supporting and encouraging the field rangers who work under challenging conditions. Messages of support was also delivered by Ms Khethiwe Silubane, GM Finance: KNP, Ms Khethiwe Silubane’s mother and William Harmse, SHR.
