The name Morukure is derived from the grove of Tamboti trees beneath which campers pitch their tents – tantalisingly close to nature at its wildest. Morning and evening guided walks are offered in the Big 5 area, weather permitting. Eco toilets and a shower cubicle offer basic ablution facilities. There is no electricity on site and guests need to be self-sufficient throughout the course of their stay. Members from eight regions were responsible for arranging and hosting bush camps throughout the year, including specialist camps which offer tracking and eco-training experiences. The qualified field guides, also members of the SHR, share their knowledge of fauna and flora with guests. Morukure Rustic Bush Camp Situated deep in the heart of the malaria-free Marakele National Park, the Morukure Rustic Bush Camp is a 300 km drive from Gauteng and is an ideal weekend getaway for groups of eight guests or more. The selfcatering camp is quiet, secluded, private and unfenced, allowing guests to truly get away from it all. Contact Adriaan Odendaal adriaan100@mweb.co.za SANParks Honorary Rangers 2024 91
