Sunset Serenade in Kruger N. P.
The Conservation Services National Project of the SANParks Honorary Rangers recently held it’s annual long weekend of classical music performed by an ensemble of musicians at the Mopani Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park.
In 2019, we celebrated 20 years of music and loyal support for the Sunset Serenade and SANParks Honorary Rangers. In celebration of this milestone, and due to the overwhelming popularity of the event, two long weekends of music in the bush were held this year.
The three classical concerts were held at different unique bush venues outside the Mopani Rest Camp. Sundowners were served prior to the start of the concerts and during intervals whilst the audience enjoy the tranquil bush surrounds. Upon return, a three course dinner was served on the deck of the Tindlovu Restaurant, overlooking the Pioneer Dam.
The event was started by Margaret Stafford and Jill Creasy 20 years ago. There has been one every year since then, except one year. Some years there have been two events so there have been a few more than 20 concerts. Six musicians played at the first event. Five of the original six have played at all events and still play for us now.
There were between 100 and 120 guests per event.
All the funds raised are utilised for the projects undertaken by Conservation Services.
