Unique Bush Concert in Mokala again a huge success
The SANParks Honorary Rangers: Free State Region held its 9th annual Mokala Bush Concert in Mokala National Park over the weekend of 19 to 21 April 2024.
The concert, born in 2016 after a member of the region came up with the unique idea and brainstormed the concept with the region and equally enthusiastic staff members at Mokala, again was a huge success.
Although it is called a “bush concert”, the project in reality is a whole weekend of events and exciting opportunities, including a wonderful evening braai the Friday evening, and breakfast the next morning in the Mosu Restaurant, culminating the Saturday evening in the concert itself, under the moon and stars in the bush.
The artists this year, Mathys Roets and Jacobus Silwer, touched the hearts of the audience – 120 guests, including staff members of SANParks and the organising committee – with beautiful, mainly Afrikaans songs.
Paul Colditz, National Chairman of the SANParks Honorary Rangers and also member of the organising committee, expressed his gratitude for the team of the Free State region that had made all this possible. “The guests all said they enjoyed a memorable weekend and concert but quite frankly, I believe that those dedicated, hard-working and committed Honorary Rangers involved in presenting the weekend had even more fun and fulfilment in being able to serve nature conservation and our guests with a pleasurable and memory-making experience.”
Funds raised go towards fulfilment of our mandate in support of SANParks, and in Mokala specifically.
The tenth Bush Concert will be presented next year over the weekend of 11 and 12 April.
